Integrity commitments

A review function is only useful if its own standards are visible and testable. These are the commitments the Institute holds itself to, including the limits of what it claims.

Statements

What the Institute commits to

Evidentiary marking
Every substantive statement in Institute material carries the state of the evidence behind it: observed, measured, replicated, inferred, modelled, simulated, synthetic, contradicted, unresolved, or superseded.
No manufactured authority
The Institute does not present figures as data when they are constructions, does not cite work it has not examined, and does not describe its own review as a guarantee.
Contradiction retained
Contradicting records are registered and continue to act on the release state until resolved or superseded on stated grounds.
Dissent retained
Reviewer disagreement appears in the output. A record with the disagreement removed would misrepresent the review.
Supersession, not deletion
Revised material is marked as superseded with its history intact rather than removed.
Correction on the record
Errors in Institute public material are corrected publicly, with the reason and the date stated.

Notation

Evidentiary states used throughout

Observed
A recorded event or phenomenon reported by an instrument or observer, prior to interpretation.
Measured
A quantity produced by a traceable measurement procedure with a stated uncertainty budget.
Replicated
Independently reproduced under stated conditions by a group not dependent on the original analysis chain.
Inferred
A conclusion reached through reasoning over observations and assumptions rather than direct measurement.
Modeled
A quantity produced by an analytic or numerical model, conditional on the model's assumptions.
Simulated
A computational realisation of a model. Simulation is not observation and cannot substitute for it.
Synthetic
Material constructed for demonstration or education. It contains no laboratory data and describes no real programme.
Contradicted
Evidence exists that conflicts with the claim. Contradiction is retained as information, not removed.
Unresolved
The available evidence does not discriminate between competing explanations at the stated confidence.
Superseded
A later record replaces this one. The earlier record is preserved with its revision history.
Decision-relevant
This item materially changes which decision the evidence permits at the current review stage.

Material on this website

Synthetic and illustrative content

Every visualisation on this website is either a conceptual diagram of reasoning structure or a synthetic construction built for demonstration. None of them contains laboratory data, and none represents a specific experiment, group, instrument, or result. Each figure carries its classification and, where relevant, an explicit synthetic-material notice.

This is a deliberate constraint rather than a limitation of the website. Presenting invented data as measurement — even decoratively — would violate the standard the Institute applies to the work it reviews.

Handling

Records, confidentiality, and submissions

Public forms
The forms on this website accept only non-sensitive information. They do not accept file uploads, and they should never be used for confidential, classified, export-controlled, embargoed, or personally sensitive material.
Form protection
Submissions are protected by a challenge that must be completed for each submission. A submission is only reported as received when the receiving system confirms it.
Partner records
Where record access is required for an engagement, it is read-only, defined by the partner, established after eligibility review, and withdrawable at any time.
Confidentiality default
Engagement output is confidential to the partner. Publication occurs only with written consent, and then with the contradiction register and decision state intact.
Credentials
No system credentials are present in this website. Any privileged access used in an engagement is held server-side and never exposed to a browser.

Limits

What a clean review does not mean

  • It does not mean the claim is true. It means a specific class of error was looked for and not found within the stated scope.
  • It does not certify, license, or accredit anything.
  • It does not transfer risk. The partner remains responsible for its own decisions.
  • It does not extend beyond the scope agreed in writing. Findings do not generalise to the rest of a programme.
